When I first had the idea of creating the concept of Café de Concert in 2003, former Steinway representative in Norway – the legendary Mr. Thron Irby immediately said “I can provide you with a Steinway grand piano, Aksel. Great ideas need great instruments”. The rest is history. Ever since, I have just used Steinway pianos at Café de Concert and when ever touring solo or through Café de Concert I have allways asked to perform on a Steinway grand piano. If anybody asked me why not use our great “whatever brand”, I kindly told them that I prefer to wear silk rather than cutton.  When Café de Concert would sell concert series to different venues I´d allways try to convince them to eventually buy a Steinway so that the Café de Concert series could continue in the best way as spossible. For the musicians and for the audience. I still do. Café de Concert has much to thank Mr. Thron Irby and Steinway for. And I am so happy to announce that the young and street smart Gisle Daus and I will continue working together, making everybody wear silk!
